Why is Hardwood F27 sizing not auto-calculated like Pine?
We publish a verified engineered span table for Pine MGP10 H3 framing. A citable, verified F27 solid-hardwood span table was not available at the time this calculator was built, so F27 joist and bearer sizes are offered as a manual choice from our real stocked sizes rather than an automatic recommendation. Please confirm final F27 spans with AS1684.2 or a structural engineer before building.
Why 450mm joist centres?
450mm centres is the standard, conservative spacing used for timber deck joists in residential construction, and is what we build every recommendation around.
How is the composite fixing quantity worked out?
For KlevaKlip systems (ModWood) we use the standard 1 box of clips and 1 box of BH201/BH301 screws per 9m² of decking. For Eva-Last Halo Clip we calculate the exact number of clips from the manufacturer's fixing rule of two clips at every joist. Trex quantities use the same estimate as KlevaKlip pending a confirmed manufacturer rate.
